1971 Opel Ascona 4-door (blue for now...)


Phase 1:
1.9 block bore 1.5 mm, 11.5:1 compression, lightened rods, profiled crank, race prepped big valve 1.9 head (1.85"/1.50" valves), .534"/.529" - 250/246 degree solid cam w/107 LSA, roller rockers, 45 DCOE's, 1.625" header, Compufire igntion, baffled oil pan, multiplate clutch and alloy flywheel. Close ratio Ford T9 gearbox. Estimated 170 hp.

Phase 2:
2.4 block bored to 96.5 mm, 2.4 crank offset-ground (88.556 mm) for 2591 cc's, 5.472" billet rods/flat-top forged pistons/13:1 compression, max-ported 2.2 head with 1.94" intake valves and 1.625" exhaust valves fitted, .576"/.577" lift - 266/272 degrees @ .050" duration, 106 degree LSA solid lifter camshaft, custom tubular steel intakes, 48mm DHLA Dellorto carburetors, 1.625" custom equal length header, crank triggered ignition system, 2.5" exhaust system. Estimated 240 hp.
Full Rally America-compliant FIA-spec TIG welded rollcage, FIA approved seats (Sabelt and Momo), Schroth FIA harness', hydraulic handbrake, Momo steering wheel, Brantz rally computer.
To be painted yellow and black to match Walter Rohrl's championship Ascona rally car, with Steinmetz flares.
Reinforced front crossmember/lower a-arms/upper a-arms, L-shaped arms, Chrysler lower ball joints, Delrin AF bushings, milled front sway bar, 360 lb front springs, Fox off road racing shocks, Quaife 2.4 turn fast rack.

Stock rear springs, fabricated trailing arms with heim joints, custom panhard bar, Fox off road shocks, Toyota 8" diff with 5.29 final drive.

Vauxhaul 21 mm vented front rotors with Wilwood
Dynalite calipers, Irmscher solid rear discs with Cadillac Catera (ATE) rear calipers and Wilwood mechanical calipers for e-brake.
Wheel and Tire
195/70-13 gravel rally tires on 13 x 7 wheels, or 13 x 8 Superlite wheels with 225/50-13 Hoosier DOT radials for tarmac.
