Poor bugger had spent decades sitting in a storage lot. I was somehow able to start it and drive it half-ways home before it over-heated and shut down. When funds permit the engine will be overhauled and punched-out to 2.2 liters and it will be re-painted Lemon Twist. If you're curious, some pictures will be added, soon.
1970 Opel GT (Orange(ish))
Just a plain 1.9 engine with after-market breakerless ignition and a Webber. Wait; plans for 2.2 pistons, new camshaft, new valves (and seats) plus maybe that less-heavy starter.
Yecccch. Headliner was ripped and torn, so now it's gone. Dashboard was cracked and faded, so it's been re-covered. One seat is intact, the other needs to be repaired so the back will not fall off. I dream of new carpet, leather door panels and leather with cloth uhpolstery, but the engine comes first.
Looks fair at first glance. No major dents but some rust. Front spoiler is dinged, so it will be replaced with something that won't rust. I did remove the headlamp buckets to save time when it's ready for paint.
Stock AM radio (obviously that will be switched.) I am going to bore a hole astern and install an automatic antenna.
Now it is box-stock, it needs fresh front struts. Likely that'll also mean anti-sway bars and such, as well.
Wheel and Tire
Wheels are stock, rubber is embarassing.
