Thought I'd post a couple of pics to let you see what the euro spec 1.2 looked like in the Manta....pretty sad really......

Awe, that doesn't look bad. Wonder how it handles and what fuel mileage it has? I think Charles was looking for one of these Mantas, btw. Thanks for the pics.

YEs actually I was thinking of bringing over a 1.2L if I could find one in Europe not in need of a lot of work. Just to be different.

Was the rear end and other parts smaller, like they did on the GT, or just the engine?

Looks like they made the windshield washer reservoir bigger... :D
(doesn't it look huge in that engine compartment?)

A 1.2 in a 1.1 car makes a BIG difference.
Had a 1979 Ascona 1.2 engine put into a 69 Kadett once.
105-110 top speed requires full lane width to handle.
Gas mileage was around 25-28....

we didn't get these in mantas here, but they came in the Kadett C, and they weren't bad at all, much faster than any italian 1.3 engines of the time.

Bigger is Better!

The 1.1L is 1078cc with a 75mm bore so it is posible to bore it to 78mm to get 1.2L at 1159cc. Might be pushing it a bit to fit 1.3 (1256cc) pistons at 81mm bore size ....... All of the motors have the same stroke at 61mm - 2.40" so the pin heights will probably be the same .....
So OldOpelGuy - will those 11SR blocks punch out 6mm ????
