Speaking of the differences between a 1.1 differential versus the 1.9 differential, does anyone know what the differences (no pun intended!) are?
Specifically, can the backing plates and related brake components (brake cylinders, shoes, drums, etc.) from a 1.9 diff be transplanted to a 1.1 diff? The only real issue should be the bolt pattern on the diff hubs where the backing plates bolt on.
The reason I ask is that Kat has a couple of otherwise pristine 1.1 Kadetts with poor rear brakes, and several 1.9 diff's as potential brake donors. She can buy the 1.1 parts (although the drums are a bit rare), but swapping is always more fun and economical!
