Hey, I'm about to purchase new wheels and tires for my 73 GT. I'm wanting to reduce the gap between the fender and top of the tire typically on stock GT's w/ 13" wheels. This gap seems to be around 4" and has always seemed too much to me.

My goal is to lower the car 1 1/2" while also slightly increasing the total circumference of the wheel/tire setup to fill the gap w/o getting crazy low or causing rubbing. I've put a sport spring on the front and cut the rear springs to lower it 1 1/2".

My question is, will this wheel/tire set up work on a GT that's lowered 1 1/2" w/o major modifications?

205/50 R16's x 8" wheels / +20mm offset
Diameter: 24.1"
Width: 8.1"
Sidewall: 4"
Circumference: 75.6"

Original Set up: 165/80 R13's
Diameter: 23.4"
Width: 6.5"
Sidewall: 5.2"
Circumference: 73.5"

I've read tons of info here and from OGTS about wheel/tire setups but I can't seem to find out if this will work or not. My main concern is increasing the circumference by 2", I hoping to increase it some to close the gap as I mentioned but I'm worried this maybe too large and cause issues.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm running 205/45-16 on a 7.5" rim on the front and 245/45-16 on a 9" rim on the rear.
