hi . iam in the middle of the same swap myself . i am in the uk and tryining to put a 16v in my gt . i think this is the earlyer version of the ecotec ? u can use an opel manta box , it goes straight on the block . ive not sorted the mounts yet ( if any body has any ideas let me know ) also on the 16v the distributor is a problem

hi guys . iam in the middle of putting a 16v calibra engine in my gt . sorted the loom and its time to try and put the lump into the gt . anyone got any ideas for engine mounts ? slso the distributor could be a problem it looks as though it will fowl the bulk head ?

ive answerd in the ecotec thread but i think you need the dizzy from the 1800 as it has a reversed fitting so it clears the firewall
its a chain drive inside a bracket and sticks out to the right of the head above the exaust
i will see if i can hunt a pic out and post soon

!6V swap

That's how it looks in a '72 Kadett.
It's a whole lot of work, self made motor mounts, move booster/main cylinder to the front, self made oil pan, remove heating system AND cut some sheet metal instead of using the different distributor, and and and.

Have fun trying it (for me it was worth the trouble)
