1970 OPEL GT $12,000 $ 10,000 NOW $9,000 SOLD
West Va
I have a 1970 Opel GT for sale. I bought in January of this year from the estate of the deceased owner.
I am asking $12,000, but I am open to reasonable offers. Car has clear title, and is being kept inside. It is drivable, licensed and insured." Car is located in Lewisburg, WV.

It was in fair condition, but not running at the time of purchase, but was advised it did run recently.
I bought the car and trailered it home. A new battery and tuneup and it ran.

Body is in good shape and rust-free. It drives and handles well. I will try and list all new parts, and work done on it since acquiring it. Most parts sourced from OGTS and Suselbeek, and local sources."

Engine: Weber carb; Petronix electronic ignition; complete tune-up; fuel pump; belts and hoses.
Exhaust resonator and intermediate pipe. All other exhaust in good shape. Vacuum hoses and
check valve for brake booster. Heater control valves and hoses. Complete clutch assembly.
and flywheel resurfaced to factory spec.; New battery.
Body/Chassis: Front brakes and rotors; minor body work and new paint; new rear bumpers and L/P lights
Halogen headlights; New body badging; New tires--185R/70-13
Interior: Carpeting, rear deck and spare covers, Stereo and speakers. All gauges but clock work."
New fuel sending unit and tank vent hoses. 85,600 miles showing as of 11/01/21"
There is more, but those are the major things done."

Issues: Dash pad severely cracked, but have cover pad; No ignition key switch--use small screwdriver to start."
Heater motor doesn't work, but switch tests good."

I'm selling due to physical/mobility issues.

Please PM me on this forum, or email me @ dlthrasher1 (at) att. net if you are interested and have questions."
I will try to answer questions in this thread as I check it.

So you really only want 1200 for this?
Pardon my unattentively late night( had a couple really cold ones) post. Was crunching numbers everywhere yesterday Including my new drain field dilemma.
And fell short a 0 and in this case makes a world of difference
My apologies

Well, glad to see you weren't being a troll... Posting While Drunk is dangerous, but not criminal.
And, yes, $12K is the asking price and I am open to reasonable offers.

no, no trolling but my wife has expressed her concern with the amount of time I spend on here.
So I got off and gingerly said what can I help you with honey?
She laughed and says, and I quote " did you hear that" ME hear what? " I think your friends are calling you" LOL

An Opel option so rare nobody new of it until now!!! That's was there when I bought it.
I myself am glad to see someone else along the way figured out that the gas cap works on the oil as well.

I discovered the perfect fit about 20 years ago when I had two or three spare gas caps laying around. Super improvement over that what should we say nondescript oil cap!!
Old BMW gas cap and oil caps interchange. But neither looks cool like a GT gas cap.
The GT/J gas cap makes a good oil cap too. I’ve used it for a few months before I decided I liked it on the gas tank better.

You can also use a 1970s Chevy C10 fuel cap for oil and fuel on an Opel in a pinch.

I think I’ve found this one on every Opel I’ve ever purchased. Vented Gas Cap Polished Stainless Steel Chevrolet C10 1960-1971

I love the gas cap/oil cap I would have never thought to try that.
That would throw the wife for a loop
LOL
My gt has a oil cap as a gas cap. But I still don't think I would have thought of the flash gas cap as a oil cap.

It is late evening, but have to ask. OEM Opel oil filler cap would be non-vented.
Vented oil filler or gas cap will function as a breather vent?

It probably acts as an oil leak on an Opel lol.

I’m not sure the ones I can across were vented. You could probably plug the vent though.
Not sure it would leak oil out....both valve cover hoses help create a vacuum in the cover, so maybe it would reduce the effectiveness of that by drawing air in?

We’re now a bit after Christmas and I’m a bit late to the game here. Is this still available? Tried to direct message you but I couldn’t since I’ll new around here. Thanks.
Still available. I replied to your email.
New reduced price--$10,000 or OBO.

New price $9,000. This is the last reduction. This car needs to go, but no so bad that I take a bigger loss than I will at this price. So, last call...I will work with you if you are serious.
Might be the first silver one I've seen, and looks great with the red interior. A little understated without being boring.
This GT would be a candidate for Bring a Trailer I think. I’d be shocked if it couldn’t bring $9k on that site.
Here is a link to all the photos I have ever taken of this car:

Very nice. Did you install the sun roof? and I assume it is functional. Good luck with it.
