Am currently building up a 1971 Opel Manta 1900 and am now working on the engine. I got rid of the 1971 1900 engine and put in place a 1981 1900 engine from an Ascona B (12 bolt cylinder head vs. 10 bolt for the older motor).

Since I am rebuilding the motor, I will be boring it out to 95mm using Kolbenschmidt pistons (net effect = 2.0L). Ported head, big valves, GTE camshaft, GTE solid lifters, double valve springs, Steinmetz manifold with 2 X 40 DCOE Webers, Petronix conversion, Mallory Hyfire VI with Promaster Coil, Steinmetz header, and topped of by the factory aluminum valve cover.

All this will pass through a 9" clutch then a ZF S5-18/3 5-speed gearbox and finally a 3.44 rear end with a POSI unit and ATS 13X7 wheels.

I hope I got this combination correct.....

Those are some nice parts! Post some pics so we can see it as it progresses.

Just took the car out for a shake down drive last weekend and car felt really good. Very tight. Please note that the steering wheel will be replaced with a MOMO Jackie Stewart model.

Have also installed the ATS wheels now since this photo was taken. Will upload some outdoor shots soon.

Car has to go back to my electrician for some debugging...
