i have a 2.0 with 650 miles on it for sale. spun a rod bearing, so polish the crank for 20 bucks, new bearing shells for 20 bucks and buy a oil pan gasket set and you'll have yourself a low mileage 2.0 already done for ya with reciepts to show all parts and machine work, totals about 1,000. anybody can have it for 350 bucks, or window locking strips, new door seals, weber, swaybars, electronic ignition, and rims. pay the 350 bucks, give me some parts i listed, or mix and match the two. please dont respond through PM, its a hassle to me when you can only type so little. the motor is clean enough to eat off of, inside and out. new pistons, rings, bearings, reconditioned rods and crank. reground valves and seats with hardened seats. i'll be honest, it could use valve guides though. comes with everything except carb. email me or respond through here please.

sorry moderators, feel free to delte, i know it dont belong here, just trying to sell it sorta fast, need money, dads bitching about garage space, so it needs to go to opel people, or the scrapyard, i'd prefer it go to some sort of use, all your paying for is the machine work.

minimal interest in this motor, it will be hauled away soon, another week or two and a perfectly good 2.0 block, pistons, rods, crank, and head is gonna be melted down. no room for it here and nowhere to keep it.

I'm interested but unfortunately I'm in VT and I don't quite have the cash right now, perhaps if it was at the end of the summer... :(

I don't suppose anyone out there would be willing to store it? I really hate to see it melted down...

Would anyone on the board know of trucking companies that could haul the motor if it was crated? I think I remember reading here on the board, that the weight would be around 300 lbs without transmission? Please correct me if I'm wrong on the weight. I'm interested, but snowed under with too much going on and Michigan is a ways for me too. Jarrell

Nhil Illigit Carborundum GS20!

Jared,

Has your Dad any idea of the shear grit and determination his son showed in the building of that engine? I keep refering newbies to the article "Economical CIH Engine Rebuild" as a source of inspiration and the answer to many, many problems in building a custom Opel motor.

That motor should be kept in your family Hall of Fame!

If it would take as little to fix it as you say then show this post to Dad and let him know that there is a whole Opel Community out here that respects you for your achievements! Keep it and fix it for youself - never give up!

With Respect,

GTJim: Nhil Illigit Carborundum GS20!

Nice catchphrase, GTJim, but if you were trying to convey not to let the BS wear him down, it would be "Illigitimi non carborundum" . . . BS (Illigitimi) is masculine declension and always written in plural format as I can't think of even a single instance where it has ever appeared singly . . . there's always either none or a lot of it! :p

"non" is used adverbially to negate "carborundum" (wear away, erode, wear you down), hence "Don't let the BS wear you down". See how well my classical European (Dutch) education serves me! :D

BTW, it's "nihil" (nothing), hence nihilism and nihilistic. OK, Latin 101 lesson is over.

Nihil utile quod non honestum!

The previous title was in what is known here as "Dog Latin" made up to look like the real thing but only impresses the untutored!

Interesting that illigitimates are always plural! there must be lots of them. :D

My "colonial" education did not extend to Latin but I learnt more about English in my French classes than in the English ones!

Funny, but we call that "Pig Latin" here. Just trying to lend some legitimacy to that oft used catchphrase, is all.

KEEP AND FIX THAT ENGINE, JARED!

GT Run!

I think we might have to organise a GT Run to Gobles, Michigan to support Jared and move his stuff to the offered storage. Baz supplied a map in the "I am not the only one!!!" thread

i am not too sure on how serious he was when he said that, always means it as he says it, but he changes his mind like a 15 year old little girl so you never know if he'll go through with what he says or not, as of now, he'd pry let it set there forever, but tomarrow he may want it out in the next 10 minutes. i just try to take him serious, when you dont he proves you wrong. he says a week or two but there will probably more time than that to work with in my honest opinion, just a possibility there might not be. i'll have a job in the next week or two, and hopefully i can put a new rod bearing shells in it and that way it will be a perfectly good running motor, he wouldnt make or threaten me to get rid of it then (no sense in throwing good stuff away).

perfect running???

Jared, I live in mid Illinois, and if you do get it runnin' perfect and still wanna sell it, i know for more, but if you do let me know.... I really would like to see you keep it, but i'd rather me buy it then it go into the crusher. But you guys know me, i know nothing about engines, hehehe. so how much would it cost for shipping and how much to have someone put it in? good luck jared,
Billy

talked to dad about the 2.0 today, i guess he was "being sarcastic". i think it was either sarcastic on a bad day or realized what he said and realized it wasnt fair. the 2.0 is still up for sale, but things dont have to be "right now", i dont think its in any danger of going to the crusher.

Probably just winding you up to get something done. Just keep on GTing and there is obviously room over at Jnjvan's if necessary to save stuff.

i believre i've spoken with jnjvan on the phone, planned to meet him at his house, but we had some pretty wicked storms and tornados in our area the night before, i ended up getting blocked in by a big old old tree that landed 3 feet infront of my car and john said stuff was pretty messy out his way too. hopefully we can get together in the next couple weeks or something. glad to find out dad was not serious about scrappin my 2.0, atleast its safe.
