V6 help

OK V6er's I'm considering the transplant. (Got a line on a great preped 2.8) Can I get this in the GT without having to cut the hood? As you can se I have a very custom paint job that I do not want to touch.

Add photos if you can.

Thanks,

Henri

Henri, Like I said earlier, I can't help you on that specific question, for a couple of reasons. First I have the Lenk Tuning Hood which has a raised center section and, secondly, no carb or distributor. Those two items would be the determing reasons for the engine not fitting. There was a member that tried to put a distributor V-6 engine in his GT but never finished the project, why I don't know, but he was having trouble finding a distributor that would fit without cutting the cowl for it to fit. Whether Nathan Acree or some of the others doing this mod can help answer your question, I don't know.

Nice Paint but .....

Fitting a V6 seems to involve lots of cutting of sheet metal and taking the motor in and out to solve clearance issues - see Ron's engine fitting saga!
All this is surely going to stuff up the paint work as it only takes one slip and GOUGE! Carefuly changing in another Opel motor is the best bet you have that nothing wil need cutting - and a built 2.0L CIH motor will give you power to spare ....... with a good one you will outperform 2.8 V6 Mustangs all day anyway!

Ford 2.8 V6 requires heavy modification to the driver's foot well, and the carb will stick up through the hood about 4 inches. My GT came with one of these installed.
