2x Solex ADDHE 40C
  • disassembled
  • ultrasound cleaned
  • new gasket kit
  • new accelerator pump membrane
Most of you will know that the Solex ADDHE 40C is much lighter than both the Dellortos and Webers. This is because they are made out of aluminum pressure castings instead of zinc castings. The ADDHE also has vacuum ports, as opposed to the Webers.

I've never seen a Solex side draft. What was it originally run on?
I don't know all the applications for this specific one but Alfa, Citroen, and other brands used Solex ADDHE sidedrafts.

We have a different Solex side draft (PHH 35) on our Lancia:

Also Irmscher and Steinmetz used them for their tuning kits on Opels.

When I got my Irmscher SSD manifold from Germany many years ago it had one of these attached. I cleaned it up and ran it on my GT for a while before switching to the DCOE. I still have it in a box in the shop. I had a contact in Germany at the time and was able to order parts and jets for it, but ultimately I didn't find it as tunable as the Weber or near as easy to get bits for. I also have the workshop manual for it. The are popular with BMW 2002 tuners as well
