I am stripping my Kadett (67).
Nearly all is out of the car execept headliner and mirror.
This mirror now does not screw in directly but a base plate is mounted and the mirror attached to the plate.
How do I take that thing off?
Illustration manual does not reveal it and I don't want to break it.
Thanks!

Andreas, The only thing I came up with was that it was simular to the GT (looking at the parts catalog for 68-72 Kadett) held in with three screws or it has a bracket held in with three screws and the mirrow attaches either snap-in or screw horizontally though the mirror to hold it to the bracket (catalog is not that clear on these details). It just got to dark to see out side so I will look at my 68 Kadett wagon tomorrow to see what type it has. And get back with you on it. If any one else knows we are listening.

"Slide On"

I have a 1967 Kadett Rallye; however, have not tried to take the mirror out but it looks similar to the fixing method used in my Isuzu Piazza - I broke the first one of them trying to get it out. There is two bits of pot metal cast onto the underside of the mirror base that slide into slots in the mounting plate. The mirror is tapped forward on the Isuzu to release these clips. I shall check to see what the Kadett one looks like tonight.

After ratting through several boxes of parts looking for a spare set of disc brake pads and unloading some parts I plump forgot to look at the Kadett mirror - sorry but it is 3am here!

Seems to be a straight snap. Definately no turn involved. And I can see no indication to move it forward or backward so I guess I'll try to pry from under the mirror on both sides rather than pushing it one way.
Will report tomorrow what happend.
Thanks.

Andreas, that mirror is off of the Impulse and may only be simular to the Kadett, so be easy so you don't break it. Or just leave it and I can try when I get it up here.

Mystified ....

Andreas, Had a look at my mirror on the way home from work as I pass my workshop. The mirror would not move forward even with several sharp raps with a block of wood and a hammer. Careful examination leaves me mystified. It does not appear to be held on in the same way as the Impulse one ....
We both need a picture of an Opel one that has been removed!
