We are about to begin the process of swapping an instrument panel from a 69 to a 70 GT. OGTS mentioned differences between the two years. I believe he said the main ground was different as well as the blower switch. Can anyone confirm? What do we need to do to deal with these differences? Are there any other differences that we need to be concerned with?

Thanks

Despite the differences .....

There is only one wiring harness, instruments & control lamps wiring, listed for ALL 69-73 GTs
Part # 1280364
I am struggling with the same sort of thing at the moment with my '72 and have one of those harnesses new ....... not together yet though!
More info from someone familiar would be appreciated - by us both!

Not too long ago I was debugging a 73 for electrical problems. A couple were very odd like no headlights unless the marker light switch was on, no turn signal lights unless the marker lights were on and the dash lights were on thier highest setting. Replaced the dash with a known 73 and the problems went away. I noticed some different wiring especially around the emergency flasher between the 2.

When you say that you have a new harness, do you mean that you made yours or ordered it? If it was ordered, where did you order it from?
It was New Old Stock - Seller only had one.........can you say EBay! ;)

Dash Harness

The 69 harness has all of its wires in the male plugs, while on the 70 >73 there will be a grey/green wire seprate from the harness with a plastic cover on it and plugs into a grey/ green wire in side of the fuse box however there is also a grey/green wire in of the same gauge in all of the same color male plugs from the 69>72, also on the 72 harness you will pick up the seat belt warning light, and no driving light switch, as for the heater I have checked a panel dated 2/69 ,11/69, 6/70 and a 11/72 they all appear to be wired the same at the switch. those equiped with rear window defroster use a grey/red wire and ground. I did not check each plug on all panels to see if the color of wire is consitant for those or all years. 71>73 dashes also have the light bars above the switches there fore additional lights than the 69 and 70. The 2/69 panel originally came from a GT-J. Need more info just let let me know.
