I have a 73 GT and it only has the 7730466XX VIN on the cowl.
I want to get a new decal with the VIN on it. I understand that the door VIN may have had an OY0 prefix, or was it the dash pad that had the prefix?
I've been getting mixed answers. Can anyone with a 73 enlighten me?

In 1973 they did start adding the prefix OYO on the GT decals in the door. It also stated the curb weight or GVR. I was working on these decals...for the GT and the Manta...1900...and wagon with your number on them. Just got put on the back burner. Autoteile was doing this service I believe...but no shipping to US. Don't know the quality.

I was going to look but I can't help you with the dash tag. I seem to have misplaced mine when I put the new dash in.

I have a Opel that is a 73 . not all the 73 were 73. Opel runs the production year from Jan to Dec but GM runs Sept. to Sept. It could be a late production 72 like mine that was sold as a 73. Hope this helps

My original GT was a late year model 73 and had the OYO prefix. It also had the Manta style Tail Lights. As said above some of the early 73s were really more like 72s.

So 1973 Opel GT VIN numbers start with three letters "OYO".
Meaning the first 3 digits of the VIN contain no zeros (0).
That is good to know.
