Rear axles have been successfully redrilled to 5x4.75/120. Still need to do the drums and get tires but the rear end is almost done now. Then I'll move on to the front

Got the 5 lug swap on the rear done, so I was finally able to bolt a wheel on and see how Wide fender flare I'll need.

If I wanted to leave it looking ugly like that, of course it would rub. I will be cutting the fenders to Clear the tires then add fender flares.

Are you running an air-ride setup? I thought I saw air springs supporting the rear axle....

Cool project - can't wait to see how the mechanical FI setup plays out.

Hi Steve, when I was coaching Little League baseball my "head coach" had rating sheets printed out where each player went through a series of drills (hitting, catching, speed, etc) and he had a category I hadn't figured out, GLM. When I asked him what it was he told me it was a "tiebeaker" for equal or nearly equal skilled players. Take the GLM if you had a choice. When I pushed a little harder, he told me it meant "Good Looking Mom!" YOU would have been on his team! :yup:

That is a Good Looking Truck too! Being a Bonneville racer, you can tell all the people here about rust prevention! When you get to Speedweek, drop by the Motorcycle inspection trailer and say "Hi!" I've put some pics of some of the different cars and a bike that I have done the aero design for here on the forum (about 7 "red hats" so far). Are you a candidate with the 2.0 liter beast?

Just looked at the record book, 135 with a 1500cc diesel is pretty stout! Faster than the 2000cc and 3000cc records already!
Maybe I can get you together with my friends for a 1500cc diesel powered streamliner (220+ with 500cc & 750cc class motorcycle engines and thinking about a 1000cc version)!

The amount of rust protection needed for Bonneville is ridiculous. The Rampage is wearing a lot of POR-15, and a healthy dose of powder coating on suspension parts. The rust still finds a way to grab ahold.

The 2L engine won't put me in Red Hat territory this year, but with some additional development, it "may" be able to provide enough HP to get the job done.

The MB 2 liter diesel in a mild state of tune right now (a little short of 400HP or so). When I get it all sorted out, turn up the fuel and boost to KILL levels, there's an outside chance of making it over the magical 2 number.

With other sources of power in the blown gas categories, there's definitely a chance. Potter Brothers have been well over 200 with their blown 2 liter VW gasser in a Passat. They think that 230-240 is achievable. If I build an engine/trans setup like theirs, it will be a relatively easy bolt-in to the Rampage.

Thanks. I'm bringing the 1.5L back to SpeedWeek as well. I think we can go 140-145 with the "new tune" on the 1.5. We had troubles at WoS last year, and hurt the engine. It should be better for SW 2017.

I'd love to find someone to partner with for the H/DS record. My little truck has already run faster than the current H/DS record. The 1.5L engine should make 200-225 HP in current form (bigger injection pump, more boost, better flowing head than when we set the record in 2014).

If you know the frontal area and Cd of the 'liner to get a decent prediction of speed, but it might very well be close to red hat territory!

Yes I did set up air springs in the back, haven't done the front but plan to. I won't be running the itb's for a while but maybe later this summer I'll play with it.

Finally getting closer, I worked on fitting the engine today. No mounts have been made yet but looks like it'll be a good fit.

Looks to fit but don't be surprised if the exhaust manifolds get in the way.

Make sure to shield the exhaust.
