Further research . . .

Some background. Saved a complete dealer's A/C installation instruction for 1900/Manta for '72-'75. This has templates for cutouts and everything. Also has detailed list of parts needed complete with pics of those parts. Don't know why I didn't go there first!

Here's my quandry . . . the dual crank pulley shown has the WP/alternator driven off the rear pulley and the WP spacer is used between the pulley and the fan blade to clear the front crank pulley (stock belt path is unchanged)! Looks like my original assumptions (added pulley at front of crank pulley, same belt path for WP/alt) were correct after all!

Figured out where the dual pulley Dave sent was used . . . to drive the 1969 1.9 AIR pump. Thought it was odd that the stock belt path was moved forward and that the pulleys were different size. Anyway, looks like I'm STILL looking for an A/C dual crank pulley . . . P/N 3032075 according to parts book and dealer A/C installation instructions. HELP!!

Bob, Gene, could you verify your dual crank pulleys have both drive pulleys the same size?

I was curious where it came from when I first saw it. I asked who I got it from and he said it was on his green 73 wagon with AC he parted out. He also had the condensors for both GT and Wagon so I figured he was right. Sorry if it's wrong.

a local has a 72GT thats an automatic with air conditioning. the crank pully has the same sized pullys on it. it uses the air conditioning system where the compressor is on the drivers side of the engine if its of any signifficant value of information.

Otto;

That is very interesting. I have a dual pully on my '72 GT which was from my '74 Manta Luxus. No spacers are present on the alt or waterpump. I don't have A/C and never had a belt issue.

Which pully does your alt & water pump go on, the front or back?

Compressor is a vertical twin piston type on welded steel bracket and mounts slightly above WP level with an idler pulley mounted to the front of the cam 3-bolt cover, right? That's an ARA installation, like the one that WAS in my original '73 GT.

According to my factory "dealer" install instructions for the 1900 series, the WP/alt belt path is unchanged and runs off the rear dual pulley. The spacer for the 7-blade fan is placed between the WP pulley and fan to give fan blade clearance at the dual crank pulley. The spacer is steel and ~7mm thick.

A/C at standstill for the moment

Project momentarily at a standstill awaiting some more parts: correct dual crank pulley, unmodified 7-blade fan, another stock aluminum alternator mount and ARA cast aluminum lower radiator pipe. Maybe not until after OMC Picnic now . . . haven't decided to go yet either . . .

Left it too late with the A/C :( , then had some problems organizing parts . . . still do, getting a bit too close now. Good intentions . . . don't always work out. Was intending on making 2005 the year of the Kadett!

I was doing some digging at the shop and well. I think I found the compressor mount for that pulley and a 7 blade fan or two. In the pic what is that NOS A arm from?

Otto That was for you.

Dave,
That mount is for a generator, so '68-'69 at the latest. Can you get the P/N off that arm? It may be for Manta/1900, like Gene said.

I didn't know what the bracket was for but could tell it lined up on the opposite side from the alternator. As for the A arm some of the tag is missing, all that's left is 10 110. Every time I dig through that shop I find something else. I had to have moved that A arm 4 times and just noticed it was new and not GT. I was looking for the plastic tops for the front shock mounts, go figure. I even found a rebuild kit with brushes for a bosch alternator. I still need to get pictures of the condensors so you guys can tell me which is which and a picture of that fan unit. I was told it was from a GT but it's not like any I've seen pictures of.

pulley

I was under "Wen's" GT last weekend fixing a water leak and instecting a fuel leak at the fuel pump and noticed that the car still has the original double groove pulley. Obviously, he never removed it when he stripped the AC from the car. It, also, has the AC type lower radiator hose.

This car needs LOTS of replacements parts to fix it up... and I can't remove these AC specific parts without something to put back in their place ....
Something to consider if anyone was to trade for or purchase these items.

Paul, I'll toss in a standard lower hose and standard pulley.

Gene, funny things happen when I procrastinate about going to the post office. It usually means I need a bigger box. :D

Ok now it's name that part time.

From hole spacing? Definitely '66-'69 1.1 engine generator bracket then . . .

Thanks Otto, I've never dealt with AC in any of the Opels I've had so it was all greek to me.

Gene you don't know how close to the truth you are. There was originally planned for a flatbed to pick up a car and a slew of parts and take them within driving distance of you. BTW you'll see the fan on Monday and the 2 caps.
