Hi
I'm performing a maintenance of my Bosch starter!
Dissassembled the solenoid and main body, but for extrating the pinnion I suppose that I should remove the snap-ring, but I can't see how!
I don't recall a snap ring being part of the equation.
You need to remove the pivot pin that slides the bendix forward when the solenoid engeges though, if I remember right.
Then the bendix can be removed.
It's been a long time since I did it so forgive me if I'm remembering wrong.

have you got it figured out yet? If not, the armature with drive is removed together. then the cover on drive retaining snap ring is pushed down using socket or piece of tubing. then ring is removed. we had special tools to make r&r easy. ones for gm Delco starters will work.
Hi
You're correct, the problem was not the ring, I had to remove the armature to remove the bendix!
