Step 1 (May 2014):
The plan is to build it 36' long and 22' wide, for 2 cars wide and 2 deep. The county's building department is shaking it's head "no-no". The maximum without architectural drawings is 720 sq-ft, no matter how I split it between length and width. I hate it, but I have to do 36x20'.
It's too small!
Tell me about it...

So this is how the garage looked like ever since the last post, until September of this year. Just to get back onto the topic ...

... then I had this idea that I hate to park my truck in the middle of the forest. That needs to be fixed!

Where you live makes a difference. When I looked at your design, my first thought what is going to happen when all the snow dumps off the metal roof and buries the truck. Then I remembered that you don't have to worry about that.

My buddy Tim up in northern New Hampshire built a new garage last year. He has multiple trailers and a truck he wanted to keep out of the snow, so he went with double overhangs.

Grading done in late September, ready to put the gravel in. Yeah, I voted for 8" of highly compacted gravel vs concrete. The price difference was about 8,000 bucks.

I built the wall!

I had a helper that was more helping by her good looks than by using her muscles

Dang you're making quick progress.
I get the feeling you've done this before LOL.
Has the lumber in your area spiked as it has here?
