CAM EFFECTS
Just got an e-mail from Chris.....

He's SHIPPING the roller rockers.....(Although I HAVE heard this one before. But I am happy that I got an EMAIL from him.) I'll let everyone know in a few days (weeks?) when (if) they show up.

Did he mention exactly what he was shipping? Lash caps? valve cover spacer?

-Travis
no, he didn't say. I was overcome with excitement in the fact that he was shipping SOMETHING.

He emailed me a few days ago with the following:

"There is a situation with the opel roller kit. I am still producing it, but i have not delivered all of the kits originally ordered and some customers are upset. I have been awaiting results from one customer who has six of the kits to make sure that there will not be any changes needed as it would be very costly. I am however prceeding now as I have been assured that with one minor change I had to make that everything works great.."

That was just over a week ago, so I guess everything is going on track. When you guys get everything installed, please post a full review, I'm very curious to see just how well this kit is constructed.
I received a call from Chris last night. He has lash caps but no valve cover spacers...

Hey Kyle,

Thats good news....Like u said, believe it when u see it.

Question? How did u spec out your cam for this kit?
I'm only getting the rockers, I'm using an Isky cam with a .430" lift and 284 duration. Solid lifters. Dual 45 DCOE's w/ Risse intake manifolds, Sprint exhaust manifold, 2.2 head and block.

The rockers were more of a "treat" for the motor. As I have never used roller rockers before, I DID ask what effect they would have on the above specs. Chris (CamEffects) said they'd be fine. Maybe a couple extra ponies. They look cool at least. :)I've turned into a gearhead these last couple of years....

I'm still pretty inexperienced on how evrything works together, but I'm determined to find out. Even if it's the hard way. This is certainly no daily driver. I think of it as a creative hobby. Much like painting or photography. I build the motor for fun and personal "research".

Cam Effects Problems

Roger Wilson of Roger's Opel Engineering is tired of waiting on Chris Johnson of Cam Effects to complete the cams and roller rockers that he ordered about 4 years ago. He is considering filing a lawsuit and is interested in hearing about others that have not received all of their parts. Additionally, if you have any receipts from Cam Effects that details what you paid for...he would like a copy.
PM me if you want his phone # to talk with him about your situation but also post here to let the group itself know.

Thanks,
Bob
I emailed cam effects asking for how the kit was coming along last month. I recieved this email on Febuary 13th:

"Hey Kyle, My name is Gregg Nosiglia..I am the distributor of rocker and cam sets made by cam effects. The project is almost complete and when it is I will e-mail everybody with the correct information....probably two to three more weeks .Thanks Gregg"

I hope this will be the case. Lawsuit is NOT fun for either party. I know he has said things along similar lines, but I've got my fingers crossed for him to come through.
email..

You have an email to the new Guy?

I sent out an email just last week, never got a reply from either!

thanks
Kel

Not that I approve of the delivery schedule up to now, in all fairness the original order to Cam Effects was placed in April of 2002, making it a bit under 2 years, not 4 years. Still long overdue, but not as bad as it's been made out to be.

I know Gregg well and have also spoken to Chris Johnson about the delivery issues. It's in Chris' best interest to complete the parts, as he has a sizeable investment into them already.
roller rockers

 Hey Kyle....My name is Gregg Nosiglia and I am disturbed that you posted my e-mail without my concent. I bought and paid for a roller rocker project with cam effects, which is my business...I took no deposits or payment from anyone. In my mind I thought that I was doing a service to the opel comunity..I don't want to get people expecting things until I have a finished product in my hand. Next time you post something make sure that you have the concent of the person.P.S. you upset me
Hi Gregg

In my mind I thought that I was doing a service to the opel comunity..I don't want to get people expecting things until I have a finished product in my hand.
I'm sure no Opel expert...but a full roller top end would be the ultimate for an 8 valve CIH. There must be a lot going on behind the scene that I for one am not aware of. I guess my comment is saying the Opel community needs all the help it can get, hang in there.

roller rockers

Thanks Gary, I fully intend to compete this prodject. There are many people in the opel world that are really going to enjoy them. As to the 8cih,,,,,I would have to consult my opel guru before making comment::) :) :)
My friend, Gregg Nosiglia, has finally received the first batch of CIH roller rockers from Cam Effects. He has 18 full sets of rocker arms with another 7 sets still pending.

He also has the special poly-locks, the lash caps, and for those interested, stud girdles. The only missing component to make them a complete 'kit' is the valve cover spacer and the longer valve cover sruds. Those will be locally sourced and manufactured, hopefully within a few weeks.

Photos will be posted later tonight, as Gregg met with me today so I could test-fit all the components before he commits to selling them. I don't know pricing, you'll have to take that up with Gregg as it's his endeavor, I just tried to help with the details.

In another effort to prevent the time issues that have occurred with the initial Cam Effects orders, Gregg is also going to be stocking Opel billet steel roller cam blanks and roller lifters in a few months. This way, cams can be ground to custom specs by the customer's favorite cam grinder, without the long lead times.

And the stud girdles....

Closeup of the redesigned lash caps for solid lifters. They fit OEM Opel lifters and some aftermarket lifters, primarily the British-made ones such as AE. Currently there are no plans for hydraulic inserts.

Just an FYI...these things are going quickly. Mostly European buyers, but almost half of them are gone.
