Has anyone added a center console armrest to their GT? I would really like to have something to rest my arm on and was wondering if any of you had done this and could recommend either a donner car or an aftermarket armrest that fits well in the GT.

That looks like it might work bozkm. I'd do some measuring and maybe give it a try. I also thought about a simple armrest pad and then machine a "[" shaped bracket to mount it. Although the JC option would be easier.

Looking at the dimensions of the arm rest, it would cover the emergency brake handle unless you put the arm rest behind the handle, then it may be too far back to be of any functional use as an arm rest. JMTCW.

I have that J.C. Whitney console in my Sportwagon now. I bought it several years ago and took the bracket off. Can't find the brackets now and it's just resting on the rear of the console. The e-brake clears ok. I'll try to see how it fits in the GT later tonight.

try taking a look at the '92-'96 honda prelude w/auto(kind of rare). it has an el shaped arm rest and it fits around the p brake lever.1 thing about it is it attaches to the console so it might fit.
oh contrare, 92-96 Preludes were readily available in an auto... however, what you need to watch out for is that for the 94 model year, i do believe, honda switched around the center console layout... i'll have to double check, but the armrest may or may not have changed... the difference being that for one part, the parking brake was in the middle, for the other option, the parking brake was on the side of the console... auto or manual, S, Si, or VTEC, the center parking brake years would most likely be the ones that fit...

Having had a chance now to do some longer drives with the console in place, I give it a hearty thumbs-up. It makes the drive so much more enjoyable when you have a place to rest your arm, and an extra bit of storage always comes in handy in a GT. Best $28 I have spent on the car!

The bloc of wood raises the unit somewhat. Mostly it's there as an anchor point. I screwed the armrest to the wood from the rear, and then screwed the assembly to the original console by running screws from the side of the console into the wood block. By doing it that way the screws are hidden by the seats.

That was a nice install. I like the way "the screws are hidden by the seats". Also gives you a good reason to upgrade seats. Jarrell

This is an old thread, but I've never seen any updates on the site about a successful center console armrest installation. So, in case anyone is interested in doing so, here's some pics of the installation that I did on my GT today. Let me know if anyone wants details.

The one that I installed came off of eBay:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/US-Adjustable-Black-Leatherette-Car-Center-Console-Armrest-Box-Universal-CT/391491547515?hash=item5b26b6f17b:g:BywAAOSwVlVZ5bDY
Now my armrest was patterned after what Opelmel did. Basically all was the same as his and Gordos. The one I got came for a Honda of some sorts. I too used a wooden block, but the block was used to secure the screws. The block fit tightly in the console, front to back and left to right. This was because it was "Rough cut" wood, not finished as bought from say Lowes. The screws were a #12x1in. I would go with a 3/4 if I could find them. I drilled a pilot hole before putting in the screws. Mine turned out very well and I'm pleased with it. The pics enclosed are of it mounted taken from the drivers side. You can see the screws, but look at the passenger seat. The screws will never be seen. Thank you Opelmel for the help. Jarrell
