I don't know but they are too round to make a good door stop and to flimsy to have another use. I use them as a waste receptacle filler.

Gone!

Dean,

The Carbon granules have all fallen out over the years!

Operation is very straightforward:
1) Fuel vapours from the petrol tank and the carburettor float bowl are vented to atmosphere out through the Carbon Canister.
2) Because "activated" Carbon granules are very porous they absorb the hydro-carbons and only let air pass out to atmosphere.
3)The third hose is connected to a vacuum port in the carburettor so that the fuel vapours absorbed by the Carbon granules is "sucked" back out of the Canister and through the motor to be burnt.

This device is to minimise the emission of "raw" fuel vapour.

Later model cars have a vacuum operated valve on the purge line. These can be used on the GT very easily so you don't need to hunt down a genuine canister - late model ones from a salvage yard will still work very well as long as they are still full of "activated" Carbon granules.
