hey all.

recently had charging problems, so i replaced the alternator (which had tossed the belt). i put in new bushings all around while i was at it.

my question: the orange light in the amp gage stays on all of the time. bofore, it seems like it only came on when discharging (when the needle dropped below zero). the needle shows a good charge. is this normal?

mike did you put the ground wire on the back and take it to the block ?

yes, the ground wire goes from one of the alternator tie bolts to one of the bolts that holds the alternator bracket to the block.

Mike, looking at my DESTEC schematic, that light gets power from the hot, with the key on, terminal block between the speedo and the amp/oil pressure gage. It gets a ground from the voltage regulator fuseable link. So it might be an idea to check the Blue/White wire coming off the voltage regulator/fuseable link for a ground source other than the regulator. HTH.
