for the last two years my "check engine lamp" is on from time to time.
i have taken my car few times to the garage and they didn't find enything.
iven the computer check didn't find any problem.

my kadett is 1989 1.6ls .

what is the problem?

Sorry, Moshe, but this site is devoted to the "classic" Opels, pre-1975, that were imported to North America. The Kadett you have (I believe they are referred to as a Kadett "C", or even "D") was never imported here. I doubt that any of our members will be able to help you, unless they happen to be in Europe, or have a "Grey-Market" import version.

If it's 1989 it's Kadett E ... my 87' GSi does the same thing, probably because of some sensor not connected properly. The temp sensor shows -23C all the time, and the fuel consumption indicator stays always in the 15-30 Liters/100Km range. Check if you have similar problems ...

The check engine light comes on when the computer has detected a fault at one of it sensors or circuts, or the data picked up by a sensor is out of range. Normally the fault is stored in the computer(for a limited time). A shop with the ability(and right equipment) should be able to pinpoint the problem area.
