Hay all you Gulf Coast Opelers are you OK? It looks bad from the photos we are getting on the news.

I have seen Wolf Spyder check in. He is in NC on work. I have not seen or heard from LeftLaneGuy of Confederate Motorcycles. He lives in NOLA.

Prayers go out to you folks.

I've been waiting and hoping for James in New Orleans to let us all know all is well. Cars and such can be replaced but good people can't be. Keep the faith and my heart goes out to ya'll.

Unfortunately, I think our Opelers in the coast area are too busy to think about us here. I do believe that when they have the opportunity to come out of shock, they will be glad that we here were thinking of them and wishing them well. So I say, may our prayers, meditations, or just positive thoughts, whatever it is that we do as individuals be with our friends on the coast. It is not a time to worry, but a time to be positive, and hope for the best. Besides how many folks are in a place with e mail, whether it is a shelter or Motel 6 it will be a while.
Our hearts are with you,
Shawn

I'm in New Roads about 2hrs NW from New Orleans and about 45min NW of Baton Rouge. We were pretty much spared (some power loss & downed limbs). Baton Rouge was a little worse and the further SE you go, obviously, the worse things get.

Both the cell & landline networks are a mess and even here, calls are intermittent so it might be a while before you hear from anyone. Everyone I know with a car got out of the city and I've heard of a few that stayed in the Uptown area, but faired OK and are leaving now.

The pics on the news look pretty bad for these folks! Utah is hosting 1000 of those left without homes, and sending relief supplies. Looks like Texas is hosting a lot of folks too, at least a thousand possibly more. This has to be one of the worst tragedies in our country I've seen. It is heart warming to see the US, and countrys around the world come together to send relief.

Hey guys,

I never made it to NC. the flight got canseled. We had 15 friends and relitives evac to my house. They eye passed about 45 mi from here and we had 80-90 mph winds. lots of trees down and power is out. I just got a generator and am using it to power a few things at a time. They do not plan to have power untill this weekend. We are sooooo lucky compaired to those south of us. I'm on a vol fire dpt and we made a run down to the zone in Gulfport today and belive me when I say it is worse in person. We go back tomarrow for more search and rescue. The issue where I am is fuel. no power to pump and when ther is one on a generator or it gets power it is a 4-6 hour wait. Prices are up to $3.59/gal. The Fire trucks are getting move to the front of the lines but to get fuel for the generator is a wait with the rest of the masses.

Help if you can by donating to the Red Cross.

May I suggest to help our fellow USA citizens

That the mods here send out an email to everyone in this Opel community to make a donation ASAP to OpelGT.com via pay pal or however they can send $$, and that Gary sends the total donation to the Red Cross in the name or from the Classic Opel Community as such.

I for one will be glad to contibute whatever I have left in the Pay Pal account, maybe we can raise enoughmoney to help feed some children there in the disaster areas.

Just my 2 cents........ What do you think?

Help from Kiwiland

I was at the supermarket today and the Red Cross was taking up donations there so a bit of help will be coming from New Zealand!
A dedicated "GT.com" fund has merit too. I will contribute again....

the disaster is spreading as supplies surrounding the main disaster run low.

i am doing what i can to help the people around me prepare for whats coming and trying to figure out how to help the people who lost all.

it looks like the whole country and others are trying to help opelrs included

i hope it gets here fast--even this far away things are getting bad.its worse than the offical stories being fed to the media.
