It's neat to see what people are working on and what they hope to get done in the next 3 months. The Winter to-do thread worked well, let's do another.

With many lockdowns (and coming lockdowns), lots of us are going to have lots of mandated time away from other people and around our cars. Could be a good season for productivity.

Fire away, what're you hoping/thinking you're going to get done this spring?

-Finishing up my hyper moded 73" intake
-Wrap up headers. DONE
-Install new 205-60 R 13 BFgoodrich tires. DONE
-Replace leaky right wheel differencial seal.
-Clean up ugly wiring mess under drivers side dash board.
-Touch up various paint chips.
-Intall thermal switch for my electric radiator fan.
-Annoying rattle coming from the under side rear of the car I haven’t figured out yet.
-Finish installing all the door / window trim

That's all I can think of at the moment....

I don’t have a any big projects to do unfortunately.

I have been diving in to some experimentation with my DCOE carbs. I am no longer running emulsion tubes at all. I’m trying out something called a Venturi fountain tube.
It moves the main jet up to just below the inlet to the aux Venturi. So far I’ve had a massive increase in low end power and a complete elimination of the transition flat spot. I’m just working on coaxing my WOT 5000+ rpm AFR down some more.
Since the emulsion tube is gone I use the float bowl fuel level to tune transition to the main circuit. I’ve gotten it perfect at 3500rpm (throttle level that is required for 70mph). The idle circuit handles all cruise throttle positions up to 70mph like a champ.

Next I’m going to modify the aux Venturi and knife edge some of it. Might even try and convert the aux Venturi into an annular discharge ring.

I’m also looking for a NOS in box oil pressure sender (I’ve had my 4th reproduction sender in 2 years fail).

And I’m saving up some cash to buy some perelli cinturauto tires for my GT so I can use my stock wheels occasionally instead of just racing slicks lol.

My Yellow GT has been a Project the last few years,, That's Ok,, I do work in a timely manner,, after all this is My Major Hobby,,,, Opel's
About 3 years ago,,I started off with a Really Bad Whine noise from the Rearend, That lead to Overhauling the Rear Diff. Unit.
Then I decided to Go with the Rear Disc Brake Package, I had help from a Good Friend Named Norbert
The Motor was Old, and was overhauled in the late 90's I Had lost oil psi, Partly my fault when I changed the front cover, with the wrong Oil pump gears... I was running a !2 bolt head on a 10 Bolt timing cover, and could not figure out why the head kept Leaking Oil. Then over time The engine Lost Oil psi to eventually was zero psi.. so out came the motor and Trans to be Rebuilt. At Machine shop Now,,waiting

So Now this was turning into a Restoration Project,, Lots of photo's ,,if you like Opel Porn , check here

In Spring 2020
In the past few weeks, being stuck at home,
I've stripped the engine bay, sand and prep., epoxy prime and repainted the Engine Bay the matching yellow color,

So Now I have lots to keep busy, putting back the front suspension, back Lighting and wire Harness,
Overhauling the Light Rotators..etc , etc

Here are some recent photo's I took... If you like looking at Opel photo's

Im currently doing the last things before first test run on my new high comp 2.0 with DCOEs
Is missing the fuel line and the gas cable mount at the pedal.
I have only had it started shortly and saw that I had a little Coolant leak too so hopefully in a day or two can take a run in it and start looking into the timing. :)

In a few short weeks, hopefully, I will have my Caribbean Aqua, '70 GT back, with a rebuilt Euro 2.4/2.5, managed by a Holley Sniper 2300. Just in time to install Keith's GT a/c kit before the Houston heat makes driving unbearable without A/C. With a newly installed 3:67 rear gear in the diff., and the Getrag, I should be driving this Go-cart by summer!

My goal is to finally solder up my Megasquirt(s).
I have a lot of projects going and a few require soldering so I finally bought a soldering station.

I had planned on getting my blue GT blasted and painted this Summer but until I see how the economy (and my job) fare, it's on hold. No more frivolous spending for a while.

I had already purchased the final (expensive) components for my CNC project so I'll be working on that a bit also. It's over a year behind schedule but might be the source of supplemental income should the economy not bounce back quickly.

Glad to see your still roaming around bud!

Wow a lot of great projects going on. I'm sure most of us are a little weary of how the economy is going to fare, which will certainly affect how we all spend money on our Opel's. If its just time we need to do the work, then most of us are in a good position to be able to work more on the Opel :) :) :)

I have a lot of projects, but the main one is to continue rebuilding a 1.9 to a 2.0, then eventually replace it with my original 1.9

I agree with you SpringGT, hope everyone stays out of the ICU. Stay safe, healthy and have fun working on our Opel's

I finally got my transmission cleaned up and put in all the new seals, filter, etc. (automatic), and I'm hoping to get the engine + trans back in sometime this week! Then I just need to replace and freshen up a few odds and ends, and my Manta will be ready for the road!
I have an "essential job," so I'm still working, but without school (only 1 online class a day) I have a ton of time to work on my Opel :)

Goal # 1- not die of COVID-19!
I’ve gotta go with this one too!

Unfortunately I’m one of those people in the highly susceptible group. I’ve got lung issues which would probably put me in the hospital if not kill me if I got Covid-19.

I am not in the highly susceptible group, but my wife is. Even still, some young and "healthy" folks have succumbed to it. best be safe, and take care.

What manifolds are you using. Looks like your carbs are no where near the heater box area!

Looks like a high port head too (2.2 or 2.4). So that, plus short manifolds puts them up high and out of the way.
