not really on this topic but while u guys are mentioning scratches what should i do if the clear coat cracks on my paint but the under coating the color is not effected? any ideas i have a few spots like this on my less then 4 month old paint job.

If a shop painted it, I'd take it back. If you did it: 1). wet sand it with some very fine paper (whole car), 2). Tac it and damp wipe it with thinner (poly, right?) using clean lint free cotton rags 3). respray with same brand of clear (origional can if you still have enough left). That's the best I can tell ya (and my 2c's).

well i had a place shoot it for me ill jus take it back there i guessit doesnt sound something that i want to try and do my self heave never doing it befor thanx for the tip. will deffinetly be helpful in the future when the warranty runs out.

Referring to clear coat only: Every time I tried the "old hippy" method it cracked again, only sooner. In fact, every time I've had a surface partially painted or done it myself, it's cracked eventually. Pisses you off 6 years later or 6 months later, whenever it happens.

The cracking may be due to paint incompatibilities, differing shrinkage rates, climate (inside during painting) and/or prep. Whatever the cause, it never stops until the clear coat peels off. I'd get whoever to sand off 100% of the clear coat, top coat the paint and clear coat again.
