Does anyone know whether the differential from other Opel Cars will fit a MK1 Opel GT 1900 manual? If not are there any reconditioning kits now available? Also does anyone have a photos of what the passenger glove box should look like and what the original parts and material should be behind the seats accessing the spare wheel? Thanks Brian
Opel GT Source has available new aluminum glove boxes. SplendidParts in Germany has them in both aluminum and a "luxury" model. Both firms have the spare tire cover and I think you can also get the other panels necessary from both outfits.
The diff including the ring and pinion from a CIH engined Kadett B, Ascona/Manta A & B, Kadett C, Vauxhall Cavalier MK 1 and Chevette HS fits p & p in a CIH engined GT housing. The diff from a Rekord B, C, D, E or Vauxhall Carlton Mk 1 fits too, but the pinion gear does not without modifications. There are different diffs depending on the gear ratio, one for the 3,18:1 to 3,44:1 and one for 3,67:1 and up. Look for a 19S engined Manta/Ascona A or a 20S or E engined Manta B or Cavalier if you want to use your existing gears, if the donor has a 3,67:1 or up ratio, use the complete diff including the gears.
