I live in Corning, AR , which is in the northeast corner of the state(on the state-line of southeast Missourri). There isn't many Opel GT's in the immediate area other than my 5. I try restore and salvage whatever I can find. I was wondering if anyone around knew of any sitting, going to waste. I'd also like to meet up with other collectors if possible. Thanks,
Donnie

Got one you can have...

I have a GT you can have, for free, all you have to do is come and get it. I'm not in AR (Nashville) but that's closer to you than the SW corner of Arkansas, aint it? The front from the wheels forward is almost gone from rust, back aint too bad. All the light lenses are there, glass all intact except for rear windshield. It has the 1.9 block. Rear wheels won't move, suspect brake cable frozen. Seats need reupholstery, dash gauges appear to be in good shape; vehicle has four tires that hold air on the ground, spare looks unused. I'm told it ran when parked two years ago. Wife had fit when she found out I planned to have three opels in yard in various states of disrepair while putting one together. When I let slip the fact that it might take longer than two weeks, that was the old ball game! And, no, can't sell the wife and keep the car, lol...
Will post pix later.

gauges

If you don't need the gauges on that Opel, let me know. I would be interested in them. Mine has aftermarket and I would like to get back to original. Someone also took out the radio, heater controls messed up, actually, the lights, windshield wiper controls, etc. have all been rewired rather strangely. I want to get it back to the original controls, etc. Please let me know. Thank you.

I really don't want to remove the gauges if the car is restoreable, but if it isn't I'll give them to you for shipping price. If the car is restoreable, don't feel bad. I know where there is a pretty smashed up, bondo infested, floor rotted out GT in a junkyard, and I know it has gauges in it( not much else though). I'll let you know something. After you look at the wiring mess behind the gauges, you might stick with aftermarket:confused:

It appears my loss will be everyone's gain--pretty cool!! This is a great community; my present project car since my Opel deal sorta fell thru is going to be a Fiero V-8 conversion (yeah, yeah, I know, one off-the-beaten-trail sportscar to another), but I will remain a member of this band of brothers, and keep my eyes peeled for Opels in whatever condition, especially GT's, and let all of you know what I come across in my travels. I picked the Fiero because a certain series of engines out of a certain brand of luxo-barge fit with very little modification and twenty (that's right, 20) pounds more weight, and for a fifth of the price of a Corvette, I'll have a sportscar that'll have a/c and all the amenities, and cool off everything but a Viper from stoplight to stoplight, and still handle in the twisties.
Like I said, I'll keep my eyes peeled. I'm going to track down the owner of that GT I found out about in Alabama (or at least the owner of the property it's sitting on) and find out if it's available. I'm going down there again at the end of April. The man I talked to, who lives in the area, said it's been sitting there about eight years, and he's pretty sure the original tenants have come and gone since it was parked there. :D

 I'm into fieros also. I don't have any, but I've always wanted to do one of those Diablo body kits on one. There was some websites where you could buy a conversion kit to fit a TPI 350 in the fiero with use of the stock transmission, but that's mainly for the type of people who could afford to buy an actual Diablo.:( There are quite a few fieros around my hometown. I know of about four parked( don't know who owns them), one sharp fiero with a corvette style back glass in an auto lot, and a few are running around town.

Way off subject

Does anyone know if the opel trannys in the vega interchange with the GT? Do the five speed trannys in the vega GT interchange with the opels? Are any opel differentials stronger than another? What is the HP rating of the 75' opel fuel injected 2.0? I apologize for the misplaced thread, but I couldn't find where to start a new one. One more thing, how do you identify a 1.5 engine? , and as always, does anyone know of any gt's in NE Arkansas or SE Missourri?

I know at least two people in AZ that have done the Northstar thing in Fiero . . . seamless install, minimal mods, awesome results!

I know of a Opel GTsitting in Dixon Missouri. That's about center of the state. Not sure what the year is. It's rusted pretty bad. At least the surf is. Front windshield and driverwindow is out so you know the interior is pretty shot. Only sitting on back to wheels. He wanted 500 for it. I THINK HE BUMPED HIS HEAD! I didn't want it beacause really don't have anywhee to work on it and I'm in the process of moving.
