'73 GT 4spd- On both sides @ rear-top of my plastic e-brake console/surround there is a "slot". What are these two "slots" intended for?

(my 4year-old thinks for inserting many coins into :) )

Thanks!

Dan - I don't know for sure, but the male ends of the seatbelts fit perfectly in the slots so I always assumed that they were there to stop the belts from falling between the seats.

Correct!
The two slots are for the male end of the seat belt. On the back of the console there is two tabs that hold the female end. Very nifty, methinks..
