Opel Part Dealer bidding on himself on e-Bay

Folks,
I find it interesting that Jim bids as usaopel and then he bid on himself as gonnadriveit1day to drive up the price on this item.

Everyone usually complains about the price of items on e-bay but the truth here is that at times we do these things to ours selves. Ever wonder why things don't sell for less at some opel parts dealers or on e-bay????
The reason why I know it is Jim (gonnadriveit1day) is that he sent me one of those solictiation e-mail from the gonnadriveit1day account.

Jim why did you do this???

Check out these two items on e-Bay, he has bid against himself on both.

Hope I posted these correctly. If not just look up the item number of e-mail me for the coppied page.

I don't believe the eBayer you mentioned is the same one as usaopel. Usaopel was not driving up the price on those items, he was trying to out bid gonnadriveit1day. The seller made out because of the bid increases.

If you look at gonnadriveit1day's feedback, you'll see that he won auctions from usaopel. Also, we have a member here with that username who is located down South.

It's called shilling. It's illegal. And it violates eBay rules.

Some do it to see how far they can push bidders for more money. Some do it to avoid paying for reserve or higher starting bid.

Shilling is as old as auctions.

Gary is correct. The buyer "gonnadriveit1day" isn't Jim from USA Opels. I know "gonnadriveit1day", he is from the South . Jarrell

I don't think that gonnadriveit1day is Jim. (Apologies to gonnadriveit1day in advance for what I am about to say). Because gonnadriveit1day pays outrageous prices for some things, and Jim is too good a businessman to do that (he sells things high, and buys them low). Recently, gonnadriveit1day paid $142.49 for a NOS GT Master Cylinder at http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=33566&item=7933899426 and usaopel didn't even bid. In fact, very few auctions have had both gonnadriveit1day and usaopel bidding. But when the price was bid up, as in the MC, somebody else caused to get there. Some guy named drivergreencamaro bid $139.99 on it before it went for $142.99. Hey, even if the rumour is true that Opel MC's are hard to find, why pay that when a rebuilt one is $99, and complete kits are only $65 from OGTS. And NOS sometimes means that it is just OLD (as in dried out).

Now what I REALLY want to know is who is arcadiandoug on eBay. He often has neat Opel stuff for sale, but he categorically REFUSES to sell to Canadians. Like this:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=10076&item=4505702219&rd=1
Goes so far as to specifically mention that he won't sell to Canadians. What the heck did we ever do to him? Did he eat a little Canadian beef? Did Wisconsin ever get invaded by Canada? Ah, they have COWS in Wisconsin!

Keith,
My attitude to Arcadiandoug is it's his loss...he has had some parts that I would have paid good money for, but with his rhetoric on his listings, I don't even consider bidding, even though I have friends in the US who will forward parts to me if needed....the more you restrict your market...the less chance you have of getting a good price..

I personally know gonnadriveit1day and it is not Jim. And yes, he is from the South. He is a good guy who loves his many Opels. He sees something he wants and he gets it.
