Yep, I think it is for real. It is also listed on our own ad board, at http://opelgt.com/ppc/showproduct.php?product=210&sort=1&cat=9&page=1 As I recall, the car is in New York, and was bought by its present owner (Ralf) a couple or three years ago. It was posted on the classicopels board at the time. If I recall correctly, it was actually re-painted a year or two after it was built, due to an accident, but aside from that, is genuinely a 16,000 mile (virtually) NOS GT. It will have a $15,000 reserve or thereabouts on eBay, as that is what he is asking for it here.
If I would live in the USA, I would already be at the bank... :)

Are you sure that's the same car Keith? I thought Ralph's 'old' GT was sold to someone in North Carolina and the new owner was on this forum in fact? I know that car had only 1013 miles on it when I saw it. This car may be a different one.

Hmm, You might be right, Bob. I just recalled the name "Ralf" (or Ralph), and the car was red, in incredible shape, and was (at some time) in New York. Anyone else know the story. Ralf, are you watching this?
I suppose anything is possible - but that works out to only 500 miles per year (appr.). Factoring in any variations then it would be some years below 500. Just a little curious.
I just got his note from Ralph (Ralph C. Alfano, to be precise):

HELLO,THIS CAR I PURCHASED FROM THE ORGINAL OWENER FROM FLA. ABOUT 4 YEARS AGO.HE KEPT GARAGED AND WHEN I FIRST PURCHASED THE CAR,IT RETAINED THE ORGINAL WHITEWALL BIAS PLY TIRES.I SERVICED THE CAR COMPLETELY AND REPLACED THE TIRES WITH RADIALS AND KEPT THEM TO SIZE 165-13/EXACT. THE SPARE IS STILL INTACT NEVER REMOVED.THE VEHICLE HAS NEVER BEEN REPAINTED,THE CAR THAT WAS REPAINTED WAS THE LOW MILIAGE ONE I SOLD ABOUT TWO YEARS AGO THAT HAD 1130 MILES ON IT.THIS CAR HAS 16 K ON IT AND HAS ALL BOOKLETES AND WARRANTY INFO.I ALSO RECEIVED THE SMALL SET OF KEYS FOR THE ANTENNA LOCK.HE HAD THEM IN THE DEALER JACKET.IF YOU KNOW OF SOMEONE LOOKING TO PURCHASE A BEAUTIFUL EXAMPLE OF A GT THIS IS THE ONE.NO RESTO NEEDED HERE.AS TIME GOES ON THEY ARE GETTING HARDER TO FIND IN THIS STATE OF CONDITION.YOU KNOW THE PRICE,BUT LOOK AT IT THIS WAY YOU CAN BUY ONE AND SINK TONS OF MONEY RESTORING IT OR YOU CAN OWN A TRUE SURVIOR.IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTION FEEL FREE TO CALL ME 917 560 3130 OR 718 829 0099.THANKS RALPH.

There is a Gt here in Carolina, one of our Carolina Club members, that came from New York with now around 1500 to 1700 miles on it.There's a picture of it in Carolina Opels at the Fall 2003 Charlotte Auto Fair. The car is imaculate. Simply beautiful. Jarrell

Same buyer is negotiating right now to try to buy a few of the finest GT's in the country.

He just bought one today.

The 1,000 mile red GT he sold to a Mark M. in North Carolina. That one is the GT Rallybob saw and took pictures of.

I wonder if he would be interested in a one of a kind, low mileage, Bob Lutz provenance Kadett? :)

We spoke yesterday and he seems to be just interested in GT's. His phone no is listed in post 8. Give him a ring. (use 917#)
Is this speculation? Is the market being cornered, with cash on the table?
I purchased the RED 1973 Gt from Ralph back in 2002 or so. I don't drive it much and it has about 2,050 miles on it now. the mileage was 1,139 when i picked it up. The only thing that i have done to it is, added HRE wheels and Yokohama tires. I do have the original wheels and tires as well. It is a beauty and i keep it clean. Mark
