Thanks to all of you I was able to hookup all the coolant hoses, replace the dash, hook up the battery............but nothing when I turn the key.

When I traced back some of the wires I found that the fusible link on the red/white wire coming from the solenoid and running back to the fuse box had blown.

I retraced all the engine area wires (newly replaced last weekend) but couldn't find the problem.

Does anyone have any suggestions? What am I missing?

If you trace the red/wh 10 ga from solenoid to fuse box to ammmeter to fuse box to alternator you should find a direct short to ground somewhere

I have traced back the wires but can't find any problem. What if I have attached the red/wht wire to the other terminal on the alternator? Will this give me the problem I currently have?
