Hello all,

I've read in a fwe places that it is best to replace the old roter and points with an eletronic ignition. What systems do you have and what do you think would be best for a person with average mechanical abilities. Also what were the costs and install times.

Thanks

Pertronix

WolfSpyder;
If you wait till Thanksgiving, Bugstuff has these units on sale for the cheapest you can get it, about $45. As for install time, first timers, with decent mechanical abilities will take about 20-30 minutes. Those of us who have had them before, can do it in about 10 minutes. :)

I installed a Pirhana electronic ignition on my 1970 GT 15 years ago and it has run without a hitch other than a wire jiggling loose once. That has a seperate ignition box that I mounted near the clutch cable, in that flat area. I just picked up a 2nd GT, and bought the Pertronix ignition which looks a lot simpler than the Pirhana with fewer parts. Haven't put it in yet, but glad to see it's endorsed by the experts here. Buy stock in OGTS, I'll be ordering a boatload from them in the months ahead!

Simplest installation of electronically triggered ignition in a GT is to purchase and use a Pertronix trigger and the stock coil.

Here's how: :eek:
