Engine swap

Hello Opel Guys,
I'm new to the world of Opel. I have a 66 Opel 1900 that needs a new engine. Does anyone know if the engine from a GT will bolt in? Thanks for any help. Bob

Any year 1.9 or 1900 will bolt right in, and it doesn't have to be out of a GT, it can be a Manta, Ascona, or Kadett, as well as a GT. But, you state that you have a 66 Kadett with a 1.9, I don't think Opel had the 1.9 available till the 68-69 model year.

The confusion comes from the fact that this "Opel" is only the frame, drive train etc. The body was lifted off many years ago and a hand made body was put on. I was told it was a 66 1900. the engine is locked up. I have access to a GT in rough shape but it runs. Thanks very much for your insight. Bob

that has to be a windup so i think i will close it
pgo pm me if you want to chat about it but the car is later than the date (66-7 is kadett age)and it is a unibody so has no frame

after talking with pgo i am reopening this thread poor soul needs all the help he can get he bought the mystery opel on evil-bay the other week (you know the one with the plywood looking body and the 1.1 engine )so all put the kettle on and make this man a nice cup of hot tea ,give him some cookies to go with it and help him out

You can not tell much from the photos. Hopefully, more photos to came with the aircleaner off.

its the 1000ccl/1256cc engine you can see the inlet manifold on the pic of the engine bay peeping out the top of the head

Hey, I saw that thing!

I almost bought it just to see what it was. It was also quite fun threatening my wife with another 'wierd car' torn down in the driveway. No to mention the fact that it looked like it was righht out of a 40's era war movie.

Hope you have fun with it, id like to see more pictures when you get it going.
