Finding plugs?

Seems the WR7BP Bosch Plats are recommended but i'm having a heck of a time finding someone that has them or can get access to them. AutoZone can do neither, and Advance is in the same boat with them. O'Reilly said they can order them out of Atlanta but that was 3 weeks ago and they still don't know when or if they'll ever get them.

Any suggestions on where I can get my hands on some of these plugs? Thanks guys.

spark plugs

I do not like the bosch platinums. we replace them with originals
spark plugs for rough idle at cold start. Original spark plug
for the 1.9 L is Bosch W7BC [ hard to find at autozone or
local store. I am using the NGK BPR6HS [ stock no. 7022]
They work good.

I tried the NGKs and wasn't happy with them, well the way they looked, when I pulled them out the other day. I went back to Champions.
That brings up another question I've had. What heat range plugs should you run? I know there are different ranges, but never really understood what they mean , and why? Thanks, Jarrell

i had champions, and really was not hapy with them. AC Delco plugs were ok, surprisingly enough, the Bosch Supers were junk, nearly as bad as the champions. NGK has done me well so far for the 3,000 or so miles they've been in the car.

the different heat range plugs just determine how how the spark is. hotter spark provides a better more complete combustion, but too hot of a plug can cause damage to the engine, pistons specifically.

I use either the Bosch W7BC or W6BC (one range hotter) plugs (NAPA, 99¢ each) in all of my Opel CIH engines, but with the following mod for improved flame front . . . little trick I learned drag racing SB Chevy engines in 1959.

Ok, I went through 2 sets of autolite brand in a month. I agree with Jarod on the champion and delcos. Nippondenso were ok but hard to get. The turbo went through a set of bosch platinums every 6 months or so. It also ate rotors and caps up like they were candy, but that's another story. The 2.0 has stock heat range NGKs in it and they are holding thier own. If they go south I'll probably go back to bosch.

I also use the crane ignition and a flamethrower coil on the current one.

It's just my observations but the higher the compression the more finicky they are about plugs. A turbo motor even on low boost is the pits to keep the spark right. I never found a plug that would handle it for long.

I bought 2 boxes of the original AC 42FS last fall. The plug has been discontinued but they had several boxes in the warehouse. I haven't installed them yet, but they used to work well in my 71 1.1 Kadett and my two 1974 Mantas.

I use the W7BC (7597) Bosch 'Super' plugs (copper electrode, non resistor), available next day at NAPA (99¢), in all my CIH engines with the following mod for improved 'flame front' (old Smokey Yunick trick from the '50s): :yup:
