Firewall Reinforcement

Does anyone know of a source for sheet metal repair panels for the firewall behind the brake booster on the Manta/Ascona/1900 body? It seems there are replacement panels for just about everything else. This is often a problem area...there MUST be a source somewhere!!!

SIMILIAR PROBLEM IN 69 /70GT'S

CHARLES GOIN "GOINMANTA" WILL KNOW YOUR ANSWER... i BELIEVE IT IS FROM BATTERY ACID..CORRECT? HE MENTIONED THIS TO ME IN A PHONE CONVERSATION..HE CAN HELP YOU...IT IS A COMMON MANTA PROBLEM ACCORDING TO HIM.

I HAVE A 70 GT:

i HAD A SIMILIAR PROBLEM WHERE THE CLUTCH AND BRAKE PEDALS ATTACHED..THEY LEVER AND PRESS AGAINST THE FIREWALL.

69 AND 70 GTS HAVE THINNER FIREWALL METAL(ACCORDING TO ogts) THAN 71-73

i HAD AN "L "SHAPED PLATE MADE AND WELDED IN TO KEEP MY PEDALS SOLID..THE FIREWALL HAD ACTUALY CRACKED..I TOOK IT TO A SHOP.

if you have a 69-70 gt..press on your clutch pedal and have someone watch the firewall..mine flexed and cracked..the prior owner had welded it...i discovered it much later when my brake and clutch pedals were moving as I pressed...i think i may be the only one on this site with this problem..when I mentioned it to Gil..he was the first to be aware of the issue...its an easy fix...

FYI..i would be curious to know if I am the only one with metal fatigue in this area..after all i am pushing 215,00 miles...

it is an awesome car..cant wait for a lot of rain to wash the salt away..and warmer weather...looks like Celeste will be sitting till april...

will my parts ever arrive?so i can work on her in this cold weather...
