Going to check out a '71 GT/question re: windshield

Hi all,
I'm going to check out a '71 GT with automatic tomorrow. Seller says no rust (I know, I know) and needs some carb work. He mentioned it has a crack in the windshield, is anyone making reproductions or are used the only option these days?

A little about me, I owned a '70 GT with 4-speed back in the early '90s but ended up selling it because of a growing family. I've been reading this forum for several months and have been watching YouTube videos on various GT restorations but other than that, I'm not very knowledgeable about Opels in general. I'm an avid DIY'er and do most of my own mechanical, electrical, and body/paint work so I think I'll be able to handle this project but any info and advice is welcome!

My plan is to freshen the suspension/brakes, clean the interior, possibly swap in a 5-speed manual and make it an interesting Cars and Coffee car. Not looking to make a show car, but want it to appear clean inside, outside, and underneath. Would also like to add some modern amenities like power windows and locks.

Thanks
Glen

Charles Goin is importing some new windshields as I type. Last update is they should be clearing customs soon.
Scroll down and you will see the thread on windshields.

According to his post on FB, they have cleared customs. So, you should contact him about the windshields. He did state that customs charged him some fees that he wasn't expecting, and they will be a bit more expensive.

Sounds like a good plan. I think trying to update to PDL and PW will take a lot of time. Search on the forum for others who have tried it.
Good luck!

The car turned out to a bit of a turd. Tons of body filler hiding unknown sins and spaghetti wiring.

That's your typical GT over here in the NE USA...
Just keeps getting harder to find decent cars any more...

I’d rather see damage/dents than a hack repair. In this particular case, there was failing bondo on the nose that was at least 1/2” thick. The rear quarter felt like it was way thicker and where it joined the tail light panel was mis-shapen, plus the chrome trim has been deleted and smoothed over with filler.

Are you sure you weren’t looking at my 69 Gt. Lol
It is bad as well. Right now i am doing bodywork on a 73 gt and it is a pain. The previous owner did it all wrong to fix crash damage. It is not fun fixing previously fixed wreck damage that wasn’t done correctly.

I may have a real cheap one here in Richmond soon. I bought a new pontetional project car and that leaves one of my two parts cars as having to find a home. Niether are very spectacular. But for $600-1000ish (haven't decided price yet) one would be worth it for parts maybe. Also outsode chance restorable depending on what you want to end up with (survivor or street rod or dragster)

Probably too cost prohibitive to ship to California. But thanks.
