Was just giving Gene the low-down on the car show this weekend and want to pass it on to all who are interested.
  • Oct 2nd - Saturday
  • 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
  • $25 entry fee (non-profit org that uses proceeds for cost of show and rest to buy clothing and necessities for needy children at the end of the year)
  • Entrants need to arrive at the latest by 1:00 p.m.
  • Giving away many trophies in car classes, truck classes, best-in-show truck and car, and special class for ?70/?72 and up.

Might have some parking there for non-entrants but that depends on amount of entrants, etc. I can provide some parking in front of my house right up the road. Easy walking distance. Show is not in the festival area itself so there is no fee associated with just getting in to view the cars.

After the show there is a 'cruise-in' down the road in the Cartersville down-town area. Historic area near RR tracks with lots of resturants. Basically a social gathering though there will be a 'plaque' awarded. Might be judged (however) by some local, get this, firemen. :D Sounds like a hoot.

Joe is the contact for the show/club and his number is 678-574-4876. (My number if you need directions or other info is 770-773-1730.) Really enjoyed talking to him. Sounds like some nice folk that purely enjoy getting together and having a good time. I've been to the show every year for about 8 years and have enjoyed it every time. Some really nice cars to show and a good bit of variety. It's a big vintage car area around here so I believe it would be worth your while to check it out.
The club site with dates and info on all the shows in the area is at this address http://www.ocarso.homestead.com so just scrooooolll down and you'll see a lot of shows to come.

(Oh, and there's a parade that starts at my house - I'm at a little crossroad - and if you need Halloween candy it's the best place in the world. We haven't bought any in years. You just make some 'gimme' motions at the kids on the floats and they will pelt you with goodies. I imagine by the time they get down to the end of the parade that they have nothing left... .)

Hey, ging, I used to live in that neck of the woods - Rome to be exact. Where's the show if the cruise in is in Cartersville?

Adairsville is the show site. If you take 75N past Cartersville to exit 306 and turn left off the exit it will take you down to our stoplight (yep, other than the exit that's the only one) which you would go straight thru. The next left (Main St) will take you towards the fest area which is our little downtown. You will pass one street on the right and turn right onto King St (across from the little library). The RR tracks are just 20 or so yards ahead and you will cross them but take an immediate, sharp left right off them onto N. Railroad St. Your first right is College St that runs up beside the junior high school and the car show is on the right in the lower parking lot of the junior high school almost immediately after you make that turn.
So basically:
  • 75N to exit 306
  • Left off the exit
  • Go approx 1 mile & through stoplight
  • Left on Main St
  • Right on King St
  • Left on N Railroad St
  • Right on College St
  • Car show on right almost immediately after turn.

The people who have come to visit seem to get some help from the details.
Hope you come see it - the fest is pretty decent for a tiny town.
