Hi Everyone!,
Southern Wisconsin and northern Illinois Opel lovers now have an area to check out for things Opel. Our group tries to meet at least once per month year round to work on each others cars and/or go for a cruise. We will be posting our meeting dates here in addition to privat PM's for current members. It costs nothing to join, just a love for our cars! Any and all ideas are welcome for things to do, places to visit, or places to cruise. Our group is all about having fun and helping each other keep their cars on the roads where they belong!

Jeff,
Thanks for getting a defined place for us on the site. Great idea! Since I missed June and July by being out of town for those meetings, I'm going through Milwaukee Opel withdrawal  . What day are we thinking about in August?

If we're looking for something a little different and low key between then and now, how about taking in one of the local "cruise nights" in the area? I know Schlotsky's in Menomonee Falls has them every Tuesday, and Wayne's Drive-In in Cedarburg is every Thursday. Anyone up for that next week on Tues. July 26 or Thurs. the 28? Another time?

Thanks,
-Jeff W

We missed you at the last two meetings. Although we didn't accomplish as much as we would have liked, we did visit and share many ideas. Thursday sounds good as it should be my day off(do small business owners actually get those?). Our group has dwindled :D somewhat with one passing away and another leaving, besides the normal "busy-ness" of the summer. Anyone and everyone is welcome!

That grin should have been put at the end, not in the middle. Our dear friend Clyde is probably having fun with a flawless GT in heaven, blowing the doors off all and any comers.

Looking for Opel Mechanic in Chicago area

Hi -

I now own a 1970 GT and have quite a bit to do to it. My ultimate goal would be to find an Opel Enthusiast that knows everything about the car and could help me out by performing such tasks as removing the engine and trans and replacing them with 'new' ones... installing 'new' manifolds, rebuilding and jetting my Weber carb... etc.

Does anyone here have these skills and interested in helping me out? Is there a name and number of an experienced Opel mechanic that could, if not?

Thanks, Mark

Mark,
although I am not a cerified mechanic, I have done all of those things and more to my opels and others. I currently have 8 opels with 4 being kadetts, 3 GT's and a Ascona. I have had about a dozen or so opels before these. If you can make it to our next get together, we could set up a few projects for our group as well as any help you might need. However, let me know what you want to do and perhaps I can help you with it. My email is [email protected]. i also have other address, but this should be the easiest.

GMO Meet Saturday, Sept. 24

Gerry mentioned it would be fun to get together before Springfield, so it sounds like Saturday, September 24 is a go! I've got a new water pump from OGTS that needs to go in the '75 Manta, and we could always strip a few more things off the fugly green '74 Manta, including the rear axle that Gerry can use in his Sportwagon.

I'll have something for lunch. We'll start at 12:00 noon, and be done by 4:30 at the latest.

Address is 11224 N. Vega Ave in Mequon (Vega is what would be 78th St.
in Milwaukee). Mequon Road is easily accessible via I-43 or Hwy 41/45 and point in between. We're just a bit west of Sommer's Buick Pontiac and Worzella Photography. We're the first house north of Mequon Road (Hwy 167),
Home phone is 262-238-2873, cell is 262-751-1053.

All area Opelers are welcome! Hope to see you there despite the short notice!

Greater Milwaukee Opelers welcome

This "club" is just a few of us that get together monthly to work on and talk about our projects. If you would like to join us at our next get together, we would love to have you. We don't even require you to bring your Opel with you, though it is always nice to see each other's works in progress. Keep an eye on our forum for the next posting of the June event. We haven't decided on its location, but will soon.

July gathering

For all the GMO(Greater Milwaukee Opelers) members who have been wondering when we will be getting together, it has been decided that Saturday July 29th is the date, 1:00pm is the time and John Gresley's house is the place. We will be working on an engine/trans. pull on the 69 Kansas Kadett wagon and possibly getting the 72 Kadett wagon running. Since they are sitting next to each other, a parts transfer shouldn't be difficult. We may try out the turbo shear on the Kansas Kadett if time allows. Fun will be had by all and all hands will be getting dirty.:yup: Directions can be had by contacting me, Jeff P or John G.

Pics posted

Hey all Greater Milwaukee Opelers...just to let you belatedly know that I did post pictures of the July 9, 2006 Kadett engine removal meeting. They are listed under Event Photos or I think they can be accessed from my gallery. I also realized I haven't yet posted pics from the June meeting...so I'll submit those soon. They will again by in the event photos. John G came over last night and we removed the engine/trans from the Manta parts car. THANKS John!
