Can someone explain to me how to install the grill. Mine never came with one, but now I have one. I notice that the grill takes really small screws...are these the same that hold the screen on by the windshield wipers? While looking at the opening, there is tab looking things, but no holes (they could've been filled as this is not the original paint). Any help would be appreciated..thanks.

the little tabs around the opening in the front of the car are supposed to have tiny holes for the screws, and you are correct in thinking that they use the same screws as the firewall screen. the grille is a easy install, just get your 3 grille pieces up where they need to be and start screwing away.

there are holes in the bellypan that clips go into that retains a plastic trim piece, and at the upper contact surface by the bumper there are screws that hold it on. I made my own grill and I didn't use the bumperettes or the stock fastners, I used black zip ties.

the trim is on the outside of the grill, but the grill can be installed with it in place, 3m probably makes trim that is similar to it.

When I put mine in the lower screw holes didn't line up and finally used a 3 foot pry bar to get them to all go in. Not long ago when I relocated the battery and went to electric fan I got that pry bar back out of there. Not one of my better moments but it worked. :p

Jordan, How did you make that custom grill?

I like it! I want to make my own grill as well. I've been looking at some grill mesh but I don't really know if I should go aluminum or galvanized steel? which is easier to work with? I'm assuming the aluminum would.

this place I found on ebay said "You can have a 4 feet x 12 inches tall grill for $37 shipped, aluminum mesh grill", I think that would be enough material. I too am getting rid of the bumperettes and brackets.

Or are you going to mass produce the grill and we can all order one from you?!!!!

I wasnt planning on mass producing the grill, I do remember that it wasn't fun making the template, but I did make it out of poster board; then cut the expanded metal out with an angle grinder, then put rubber edging on it. I cut the bumperette attachments off the bumper bracket and smoothed it out.

ohh yes, the grill it expanded steel, it was pretty easy to work with and will be cheaper than aluminium, If you would like I could send you a section of the same expanded metal I used and the template that I made (the belly pan on my gt may not be shaped correctly so further adjustments may need to be made to the the template) for $25 + shipping.
btw les paul's are sweeet guitars (as you already know) but they are ohh so much money.

thanks for the offer jordan

I just purchased some aluminum mesh from ebay, a 12"x48" peice. Hopefully I can make that work. We'll see. I'll post a pict when I'm done!

Yeah les pauls are expensive. I am lucky I had borrowed this guitar from a friend who didn't play and then finally bought it off of her for 1200. 1982 custom sunburst with case. it was a steal. she let me make payments too!

Where did you get the stainless Jersey?
