Hey all-

I found a GT in a local yard today. Some good parts, some bad. I'm returning in the morning to get some stuff.

I was wondering if there is anything anyone might be seriously looking for. It has the gas tank, sending unit, heater core, headlights and mechanism, pop out stainless trim and the pass. side window, all suspension/ engine/ trans (4 speed), charcoal canister, no interior worth mentioning, no steering column, no seats. The rear panel is nice except for one small dent on the driver's side (nice enough to get), rear bumpers are good, driver's side rear wheel arch is good, as are the front arches. rear window is intact. Door windows are good too, I think.

The car is a 71, orange original paint.

The rear panel, distributor, and rear wheel arch will be mine. If anyone else wants stuff, I can get it, but I since I will be buying the parts, I would need to get a decent (but still cheap) price to make it worth my time and effort.

Post here, pm me, or send me an e-mail at: [email protected]

This one won't be found sitting in a junk yard, it went to the recycler in the sky. I gave the front clip to a fellow fixing a wrecked GT and saved the rest of the parts leaning against the fence. The left over pieces got crushed and... well, you know the rest. This is the one I tried to give away to anyone that felt brave enough to fix. It needed everything from about mid door down. I saved the flat panel in the rear, the doors because it has the low window crank, the hood, and the roof to the rear to see what I can do attempting to make a hatchback. Just a fantasy to make one a hatchback and still retain stock look.

Yes, it was a metal cutting blade, 14 tpi. It was white with a red cross on it. It looked the same as some of the other metal cutting blades but I thought if it was used to cut up wrecked cars to extract people, it must surely cut pretty good. It did, went right through the metal like a hot knife in butter. And yes, I felt bad cutting up these GTs but they were all so far gone it would take a major restoration to repair them. Far beyond my current means.

Would love to have the entire front suspension (crossmember, spring, A-arms, spindles, hubs, rack & pinion, etc) dropped out of the junker and shipped to me.
I need to start collecting spare parts for Speedway GT...which will be on the track in May.

Also, guys, when you are calling a dead GT "unusable" body-wise, their little scraps of exterior sheetmetal make good patches for racers who get attacked by hordes of Pintos...

Thanks

I got to say, I hate the thought of a GT in the "Yard" unless it was ran into from the side. My #2GT got rearended and I'd never junk it. I broke the welds, made a templet from it and cut a new rear panel. It won't have the lamp or license recesses. But it will give it a slight mod look that will save it. I just hate throwing things away.

I would like both of the headlight adjuster rings. Mine are stripped and I can no longer aim the headlights up and down.

TIA
Ken
