Maybe it's time to take a step back and think about the project as a whole. Ask what your grandpa and others around you think. From my point of view, with the amount of rust damage to the substructure and the amount of welding, fabricating, or finding replacement metal and the time and cost involved, I question if it's worth saving. I wouldn't waste the time and effort in cleaning stuff like the carpet that is probably already stinky from the mice and worn down to the point where there is no carpet. It might be better to remove the entire interior as well as the gas tank and spray everything with a soapy bleach mixture. If you're still trying to save it, start with the metal work first, but reassess as you go.
It is about as bad as my 69 GT. That car runs and dives perfect. We would really like this car to drive since it is a 4 speed. It won’t take that long shaping the metal and welding it in. We cleaned the carpet just for fun since It will probably be replaced anyway. It is just a fun project and we aren’t trying to make a perfect car just a fun one.

You used power tools to de-schmoo your engine, and the video we get to watch is you talking about it?

Why wasn't the camera on?

Poor choices :p
Are you talking about taking the paint off the engine?

I would have to say the black tips I turned you onto make a world of difference. And IMHO sounded much better.
However after watching your video I'm wondering if the amount of noise heard inside the cab would go away (IF) there wasn't so much of a gap between there connecting points where they fasten to the actual exhaust tips? This of course is assuming you have a very good connection with very little to NO loss at your connecting points pre resonator.
When we had ours straight piped (under the rear suspension) ( NOT recommended) it was incredibly loud in the cab to where the stereo system was basically worthless.
When I dove back into it a little while ago and continued the 2" to the original resinator and NO black tips (as Of yet) I was very pleased with the tone and all the inside noise was gone.
Although, I'd like to play with it more with the black tips I don't have another resinator to do so and my OE resinator is still pretty chrome tips, I don't want to destroy playing with the black tips.
But I do think your on to something here Sam, Keep playing with it and maybe get a couple of reducers or pieces of pipe to help try to seal up the gap between the black tip connections and see what we have.

Yea I want to do some more experimenting and see if I can get no more droning. The droning would be super annoying like driving to Springfield. I would need ear muffs.
