I received from Norbert several of those VW vents. It required small modification of vents and enlarging the hole in the console. I painted vents black and the result is pretty good.
Thank you Norbert!
Oha
You are very fast.It looks realy good:cool:
Now I must found a next job for you at winter time:haha:
But I must say,the thanks goes to Bob (SpringGT)!:yup:
He remember the Royal Dutch GT from OpelThom.
I only knows a long time that the parts are from a VW T4 Bus.

That there is a little work to grind on the ends of the vents I knows before!
Do you use the snap-in noses, or you cut both away:confused:

VW vents are pretty long, so the corners were sticking outside of the ARA console. I grinded the corners but left snap-in tabs on both ends intact, so they are firmly holding vents in the console.

That is all too common....someone climbs in and pushes against the vent and it is done. I might have one coming up, but they are the one part that is hard to find in nice shape. ARA glued them in, as well so they break when they go inward
My expirience now is.I would take the VW vents by restore a ARA console!
Those ARA vents are so brittle at the fins.Only a rack from just 0,8 mm plastic hold the fins together in the area where the slider run.Change the plastic racks to 1mm metal ones. Now the fins are more stabil!

And Keith you are right with the glue ARA used.Is hard as glass over the years.Must grind with a Dremel verry secure!
