I am starting a 1.9 to 2.4 stroker conversion and have the following questions:

1) Can the Opel 4 speed still be used(I understand that the 2.4 is in the 115-120HP range)??

2) Can a Borg Warner T-5 tranny (from a Chevette) take more power than a Opel 4 speed??

Paul, I'm not sure about the Chevette version of the T-5 although I believe they all have pretty much the same insides. The T-5 has been used on the T-birds and Camaros, so that being said, I'm sure it will be able to handle anything a 2.4 can throw its way. BTW, I'm using the S-10 T-5 on my 3.4 Camaro V-6 swap. HTH.

Paul,
1) The Opel four speed is 35 years old and tired - they are marginal with 102 HP when used spiritedly!

2) The T5 is a "local" trans with heaps of parts much more easily available and newer. Plus you will need the fifth gear overdrive with the 2.4 motor

That is why people replace the poor old four speed with newer five speeds!
