When I first read "AWD GT?" I thought that it was another dream, but the picture from Quaife takes that idea from merely possible to entirely plausible.

Any idea what the pricing is?

they go for about £4000 last time i asked and they need the skinnyest of drivers and no passenger seat for a gt ,that is 1 big mother of a unit made for ford sierra cosworths and escort cosworths

Actually, for the entire all-wheel drive assembly (front and rear diff since the ratios must match), halfshafts, transmission, etc, it's about $22,000. I priced it out back when it was 'only' $14,000, but that was before Rodney Quaife died (his family has since raised prices across the board) and before the exchange rate overseas started hurting our buying power here. At that time I wanted to put the entire driveline in a Manta.

With a GT, you'll note you need some more custom work done, since the halfshafts on a GT would have to come out in front of the engine, not below the oil pan, due to engine setback. And don't forget you'll need an entire new front and rear suspension to accomodate the new halfshafts within the suspension, with proper uprights and suspension links, plus appropriate springs/dampers. Yes, it could be done, but so far you're at $25-$28K for parts and you haven't begun the installation yet!

if i had the money and the time to do such a conversion to a gt i would probally take on the idea but as of now i dont have the time or the money one of these days though i no some gt owner might possibly do it and i thinkk it would be a sweet ride.

1 good donor that got to the states from europe that i looked at would be the ford murker xr4I
the engine is 2.8 V6 or 2.3 turbo and if the prop lengths were changed to put the front axle outside the sump (sump could be changed for an ordinary 2.8 sump )
then all you have to do is change the gearbox tunnel to get the width and get a passenger who dont mind riding with there legs crossed
