I used to run into these all of the time when I was a teenager cultivating corn in PA. I'd find the nest and work around it and continue cultivating. In the fall there would be a weedy patch where the nest had been. They put on quite a show of injury. Bill

looks like 3 or 4 to me too. I had one lay a nest of eggs in a small patch of gravel in my back yard last year. Man they are annoying, mowing around them sucked because this one would act as if it was going to fly after you on the lawnmower.

Not that the Killdeer is endangered or anything...... but it might be a tad unethical/illegal to shoot a bird on its nest. Just sayin. She wont be around very long after they hatch. They tend to move on pretty quick...
