I did buy one new, in 1971. Red with black interior. The dealer opened the show room doors and I drive the GT off the floor onto the street. Never looked back since! Traded a 1969 yellow Opel Kadet Rallye that I had bought new.

At the age I am now, I'd buy a 69 with an auto transmission. I'd have a sway bar upgrade and if AC was available, I'd add that.
It would be blue with the black interior since the other colors wouldn't wear as well.
The only thing that would make me want to buy a newer onw would be for the pop out side windows.
But, since I'm buying it new, I'd have them add a sunroof.

Plus they never made a downdraft manifold for the crossflow head. It was either twin DCOE’s or Kugelfischer mechanical injection. Those heads were Motorsports items only, they were never installed in production cars.
Actually the cross flow heads were installed in a limited number if production cars, this was required for homologation purposes so the cars could be raced and rallied in various European events.
