I did buy one new, in 1971. Red with black interior. The dealer opened the show room doors and I drive the GT off the floor onto the street. Never looked back since! Traded a 1969 yellow Opel Kadet Rallye that I had bought new.
At the age I am now, I'd buy a 69 with an auto transmission. I'd have a sway bar upgrade and if AC was available, I'd add that.
It would be blue with the black interior since the other colors wouldn't wear as well.
The only thing that would make me want to buy a newer onw would be for the pop out side windows.
But, since I'm buying it new, I'd have them add a sunroof.
Plus they never made a downdraft manifold for the crossflow head. It was either twin DCOE’s or Kugelfischer mechanical injection. Those heads were Motorsports items only, they were never installed in production cars.
I was wondering and I don’t know if this has been discussed before. What are the best things on or in a GT from specific production years? Best is subjective but let’s consider best to be generally desirable.

I am planing on getting a lift for my garage
I am looking for advice and or words of wisdom on garage car lifts
the only thing I can faintly remember was my low to the ground GT had a hard time with lift
at the base auto hobby shop
is there such a thing as a low profile lift set-up...

I just ran across a folder with pics of JJ Wheatly building his Aero GT that he sent to me years ago.
The pics are photos that he taped to a sheet of paper. (must have been pre-scanner days) It also includes a letter from Erhard Schnell discussing the Opel Aeros.
