Hi, On my 1970 Opel Gt the resistor wire to my ignition gets extremely hot and melts other wires. Is this normal? If not can anyone give me some suggestions how to fix this?

If you’re still running the Mallory ignition coil it may require 12 volts, you aren’t providing enough voltage using the resistor wire. Unplug the resistor wire and set it aside at the fuse box & coil.
You’ll need to run a separate 16 gage wire from the fuse box to the coil. I wouldn’t cut up the resistor wire just tape it off, if you or another owner goes back to the stock ignition coil it will come in handy.
