Irs

On the topic of rear suspensions, I know that the Toyota truck rear has been successfully done. I recently found some info on independent rear suspensions that is quite interesting. For example, the IRS from the Mazda Miata is supposed to be on its own subframe. Anyone done IRS? What is the rear track width of the GT? I'm just thinking that bolting in a subframe with all the components on it might be easier than building new attachment points for the other live axle swaps. Opinions?

IRS comes up about once a month on the forum. Many times it's related to engine swaps. If you do a search for "irs" you will find some good threads.

Bolting a subframe onto GT sounds good if you can find a solid place to bolt-on to. GTs are realistically sub-frame-less and have very few hard points for connections. It's a true-true unibody, unlike most cars, which have sub-frames or welded on structural members. I'd plan on some fabrication.
