Into the Abyss...

Well folks, I have place my 71' GT into the hands of MVP German Auto Specialists in Tucker Georgia. They will do anything you want them to, from frame up restoratio to just fixing a few things.

They are basically going to make a list of things that are to be done, and then I get to pick and choose as my finances will allow. I have the engine in there, and I think that this is probably the way it will go...

New front mounted intercooler and radiator.

Electical system and gagues (like speedometer and tach etc..)

Shore up and get the suspension firmed up, and probably lower the car.

Exterior

Interior.

I am still a long way away, but now at least I am working with a restoration place that after meeting them gives me alot of confidence. They will be looking at the car this week (and not charging for the list and look which will more than likely take some time), and then once I hear back from them and start on the process I will keep everyone informed as to how it is going.

I will say that the considerable information that I have already garnered from this site is great. Things like the wiring diagram will save much time and money in the long run.

But as I said, I will be keeping this updated so that I can get suggetions and any tricks that will help to again keep that cost down.

Opel Werks

Just the thing we do, here in our multitude of shops. Currently getting under way with a 67 Kadett LS, owner wants rust removal, treatment, patch and or replace. Body and Paint, sound deadening added to the interior, Front suspension rebuilt and then see where it goes from there. Also working on a few personal Projects, my 1970 Killer Texas GT, 73 Manta Rallye restoration, 75 Ascona mild custom, with Recarros & rear disc brakes. And a 72 GT with a 1900 Flat Top FI, Automatic, 318 gears, 4 wheel disc, and a redesigned custom interior with the GT's Thyme based on "OPEL & COKE IT'S THE REAL THING". Colors are RED and WHITE. And we sell used parts along with a few NOS parts.
1.9 NOS Water Pumps

Yes we have water pumps both for the 1.9 and 1.1 all NOS, more 1.1 than the 1.9. David, just moved you White Gawjaw Manta to the over flow shop it's getting a little tight with 7 cars in the shop so with yours out there, there are 7 in it now with eight still in the yard lined up, If that MAGNET gets any stronger I will end up having to live out here (Tyressa will boot me out of the house if another Opel comes to graze) which ain't that bad, do you know where I can get a cot? I have everything else out here except one of those. And a spare speedo cable for Otto's Kadett, the one I had broke.
David another thing my neighbor painted his Silos, I ain't to happy if you get my drift about 20 to 30 mph that day out of the North, one acres worth of a free paint job.

Rodney,

It's an ill wind that blows no good, or something like that. What didn't the paint get on? Sorry about that.

What are the recent additions? The last time I was out there there was the $25 Manta. I'll be by on Saturday to pick up the white Manta. Hope that makes room for another addition. ;-)

Scout for an oil pickup tube for an aluminum pan if you have a minute.

Thanks,
Got a tube no problem there. I guess the only thing it didn't get on was my Pick-up and the Tyressa's Focus, they weren't home but every thing else got it. That Purple Manta sure looks good in (asphalt) silver metal flake. And Blondi did not fair to well. See you Saturday, you may have to run a speedometer to Otto for his Kadett, I found that I do have one, if its the one he wants.
